How to Help a Young Person Choose a College

That's a helluva good question. From what I'm seeing of colleges these days, I fear for my grandchildren who will begin facing this decision is the next couple of years. Thanks to the attitude that all children must go to college and with the aid of easy loans, many children are signing up who don't belong anywhere near a campus. These are the dropouts with student loans to repay. Then there are the graduates with no discernible skills to employ to repay their even greater student loans. Lastly, there's the issue of indoctrination that has replaced education in all but a few. Yes, it's a daunting task to choose let alone to offer advice should anyone come asking a cranky old man for it. The best you can hope to do is help them see the choices and trust them to make the best one for themselves. More importantly, give them the support to see and admit a mistake and go elsewhere should that choice prove wrong. Chances are, it will be.
