Vice Admiral Robert Harward has rejected President Trump’s offer to be the new national security adviser, CBS News’ Major Garrett reports.

He should have seen this coming based on what happened to Mattis and the people he wanted. Probably wise move to not get involved with Trump administration.

I had not heard or read that. However, Mr. Trump told Deputy National Security Adviser K. T. McFarland that she could retain her post, after the resignation of National Security Adviser Michael Flynn. "Harward refused to keep McFarland as his deputy, and after a day of negotiations over this and other staffing matters, Harward declined to serve as Flynn’s replacement."

CPT (Join to see) I heard an interview on the radio coming home tonight. Harward is the UAE rep for Lockhead Martin. He makes big money and I don't think he put any effort into the thought of leaving Lockheed. This is something the media will run with saying he doesn't want to work in a DJT administration. Pure economics and no one making that kind of money would take a 50% pay cut to work the hours required to fix NSA.

Maj Marty Hogan - I don't know if I buy that it has to do with economics. Someone with that tenure of dedicated service will not turn down such an opportunity for $. Its not like he is poor. Just my opinion. I know i wouldn't.

MAJ (Join to see) - I would- I have given 30+ years and when I leave will be almost 40. Glad you still have the newness on you to state that you would turn the money down. I don't mean that disrespectfully but when you are talking 50% of your pay- not like couple thousand bucks...he has paid his dues. The office of the NSA requires 12+ hours every day for the tenure.
