Where in the Constitution do you find Healthcare and re-distribution of wealth?

MAJ James Woods - Then I guess you would also allow the government to purchase me a SCAR 15 since the right to keep and bear arms is also in the Constitution?

LTC Martin, right after the section that requires car insurance and flood insurance. Oh wait, those came along and grew into part of modern life just like medical insurance.
Sir, I worked for years as a welfare worker in a rural area. Many people who fell through the cracks do so because their jobs didn't offer insurance; many were loggers or truck drivers who worked hard, got hurt, got fired and wound up trying to take care of their families while trying to scrape up some kind of income. Most bankruptcies in the U.S, happened because of lack of medical coverage and bills. All these individual and family tragedies across the country... too bad? Not in the Constitution? I stand with SSG Hartsfield, the general welfare of the nation requires a common sense, regulated health care system.

Major Armstrong, I'm asking where in the Constitution do you find healthcare and now car insurance and flood insurance? The Federal Government does not create wealth, it takes wealth and redistributes wealth from one group to another. The 10th Amendment provides the States to have the power not specified to the Federal Government. I'm simply stating that no where in the Constitution is mentioned that because you have less than your neighbors that the Federal Government can come in and take from one iot provide to another. That is not how our system, Constitutional Republic, works.

I know this post is old, but it came up as current. Just wanted to say...
I miss this dude. I think he is the epitome of what a US Rep SHOULD be. He met with his folks regularly and publicly, discussed upcoming and recent legislation with them, and posted not just his vote but his reasoning for the vote for EVERY SINGLE VOTE he took in Congress. And he voted "no" every single time that Congress tried to push through legislation without review (like ACA's "you have to pass it to see what is in it"). If he and his staff weren't given the time to fully and completely review your bill and understand its implications for both the nation and the 3rd district, Amash was a guaranteed "no" vote.
He stated his positions publicly - and then backed them up - but was also willing to listen to his constituents and engage in open and honest discussion. He was solidly Republican, but not blindly so, and was willing to break with the party or criticize members if he felt they were wrong.
I didn't agree with all of his votes or positions, but I respected the hell out of the way he conducted business.

Well Republicans can do what Obama did and lie about it! If something doesn't happen the middle class paying for this mess won't be able to afford it. We are now getting ready to have another set of boule digit increases .

Actually they can't without spending more money (which conservatives claim they don't have) and even if they did, what would they replace it with? Even now, they are softening up their rhetoric by saying they will "repair" Obamacare instead of repealing or replacing.
The view is always difference from the field than from the sidelines, yes?

SSG Michael Hartsfield - I was referring to the staggering and ever increasing premiums that are used to underwrite those that get government subsidies. One of my sons and a friend have had their premiums increase from around $200/ month to over $600/ month. Not only that but their out of pocket expenses have increased to $6,000.00.
