I thought there were some really good points made by Dennis Prager. The storm clouds have swirled before but never this darkly since 1861... We are going to have to really dig deep within ourselves if we are going to avoid this trap. Consider that there are people within the State of California who are now openly advocating for secession from the Union! I realize that this is an easy target for the jokesters... As one who worked in CA for many years all I can say is that there are many in that state who are hard working patriotic Americans who once again are being shouted down. I don't really think that CA will secede but it should be a bell weather for the mood and action of the country. It is an issue that we all most think about. It seems appropriate to reflect on the immortal words of Abraham Lincoln's Gettysburg Address:
"The world will little note, nor long remember what we say here, but it can never forget what they did here. It is for us the living, rather, to be dedicated here to the unfinished work which they who fought here have thus far so nobly advanced. It is rather for us to be here dedicated to the great task remaining before us—that from these honored dead we take increased devotion to that cause for which they gave the last full measure of devotion—that we here highly resolve that these dead shall not have died in vain—that this nation, under God, shall have a new birth of freedom—and that government of the people, by the people, for the people, shall not perish from the earth"... Think about!
