Trump hates the media because they call him out on all the lies he tells. So he continually attacks the press in the hopes that part of the public will therefore not believe it when his lies are exposed. Attacking the media and setting them up as the enemy is a common tactic of dictators who rely on deceit to maintain support. That's why the first thing that happens after a coup is that the TV and radio stations are seized and controlled.
It's almost comical, really. After his own tweets accused the intel community of leaking documents and compared them to nazis, after he kept putting intelligence in quotes, and saying he didn't believe at all their conclusions about Russia's hacking and accused them of being political hacks, Trump goes to the CIA and says that he always has loved the intel comminity and it was the dishonest press that created the false impression that he didn't.
There are many more examples like that. Trump hasn't seemed to have figured out yet that as President, when you make shit up, it has consequences and you get called out on it. And the reason there is freedom of the press in the constitution is so the politicians can be reported on without fear of retaliation. Yet just today, Trump's Chief Strategist Bannon said the press should just shut up. That's what all authoritarian regimes tell the press to do--just shut up.

Trump has them dancing like puppets! "...the news media can barely keep up with each gaffe" -- and while they're chasing gaffes, the government is enacting his policies and things are actually getting done.

PO2 Harold Ashton - I happily own him! He is so much better than the incompetent cowardly boob who had that office for the previous 8 years.
Obama: "How is he going to get jobs here? Does he have a magic wand or something?"
Trump: [Gets jobs]

SSgt Christopher Brose - it always seems like magic when a person is so ridiculously disconnected from anything that could be considered relatively informed or knowledgeable.

1776, the second year of the American Revolutionary War, the Virginia colonial legislature passed a Declaration of Rights that included the sentence "The freedom of the press is one of the greatest bulwarks of liberty, and can never be restrained but by despotic Governments."

SP5 Christine Conley - True, but those that defend arms fail to see that it is the free press that will warn them about a despotic government coming to take the arms; that is funnier.

Hahaha! Washington Times doing it's best to be like Fox News. Where were their criticism of journalism and outrage with all the fake news about the Obama family? That's right, they were too spreading false allegations and sourcing blogs and tabloid sites. Also enjoy the 10 reasons include commentary and op-ed sources poking fun of Trump; didn't think that was real journalism. "Slow to retract, correct erroneous stories"? Did Fox News or Washington Times or Trump ever retract any of the erroneous stories they published...nope. Oh how dare they blame liberal media for the crowd size story...hahaha...if only Trump stop mentioning it in his interviews and speeches.

You don't have to go back 200+ years to make a comparison of news organizations and journalists. Just go back 20 years with the introduction of internet or 50+ years with introduction of TV or further with introduction of the radio. Journalistic integrity should never be compromised by advertisers, stock market, or salaries.

MAJ James Woods - The reality is that human are lazy and will always seek out the easy way out. Best proof of this is all the boot camp privates that fell love at the strip bar.

CPT Pedro Meza - Or the officers that brought back wives from Japan, Korea, Phillipines, Germany, etc (didn't want to limit questionable choices to boot camp privates since I've met very educated and nice women at strip clubs haha). Sorry not going to blame laziness of society for the greed and corruption that overtook journalism that brought us corporate main stream media and cable news outlets.

MAJ James Woods - Lazy habits combined with capitalism, along with addiction to drama made it possible corporate main stream media, sort of like the strip clubs of the media, because they entertain you and tell you what you want to hear, while the take your dollars. Also all the guys that I know that brought back "wives from Japan, Korea, Phillipines, Germany," complained about their change once they became Americanized.
