“If Mexico is unwilling to pay for the badly needed wall, then it would be better to cancel the upcoming meeting,” he tweeted.

The president of Mexico is in a quandary. He knows what Trump knows which is that he is going to pay for the wall if Trump wants him to and it appears he does. The money can be extracted many ways. Through foreign aid, through trade and likely a few other ways. He needs time to think and to save face. The president of Mexico will need to figure out how to not lose face while agreeing to pay for the wall.
He tried to threaten a cancellation of the meeting, Trump called him on it and said you are paying for the wall, period. That leaves little wiggle room for Mexico except for ways to quietly pay for the wall. They need NAFTA, they need trade with the US, they need the foreign aid and many other things. It really sucks being so dependent on the US doesn't it.
