Great history lesson! I have always admired and been inspired by the stories of the great heroism shown by our soldiers, sailors, airmen and marines in defending the Philippines under the toughest of circumstances. To have so few resources yet put up such a stiff resistance is awe inspiring. And to think many of the defenders were pressed into doing things they had never been trained to do. The defenders fought on, even though they had almost no food or ammunition, their actions are a testament to their bravery and heroism. For these same heroes to then be subjected to the most humiliating and inhumane treatment by their Japanese captors is heartbreaking in the extreme.

What isn't mentioned in the Article is that the two tank battalions were National Guard. A Co, 192nd Tank Battalion was the former 32nd Tank Company from Janesville, WI. Of the 99 men mobilized in 1940, only 35 survived the war.
