Actually, that is because the Founding Fathers expected us to use the powers of Congressional Censure and impeachment to ensure that the members of Congress were held accountable for their actions. Sadly, Congress has become another example of the Self-Licking Ice Cream Cone whose only reason for existence is to continue to exist, and that applies to all members of all parties.

If we followed the teachings of the founding fathers we'd already be at war with our own government. It's the difference between how things were done when we had a collective backbone as a nation instead of safe spaces and political correctness

Oh, I almost forgot, when the Founding Fathers wrote the Constitution it was also legal to call someone out if they thought they had been slandered and challenge them to a duel. I dare say if that was still allowed, Mr. Reid, Nancy Pelosi, John Lewis and Elizabeth Warren would be a lot more selective in their speechifying!
