Seriously. I went to war as a Preventive Medicine. You can't get any more REMF than that (except maybe finance). But, I certainly don't inflate my awards and stories. The stories I do have, while few, are funny and interesting just as they are. This cat was in Vietnam. He went when many didn't. Why can't asshats like him be proud of what they did? Hell, I'm proud to say I was a hopping Fobbit and never had to fire my weapon.

SGT (Join to see) - That would certainly be one explanation. Doesn't excuse it, though.

War stories are great to tell just do not wear the ribbons from your made up tales of glory. Earned his name on the blog of shame!

Honestly, some of the Vietnam Veterans ( THANK YOU FOR YOUR SACRIFICES!! ) would NOT wear some awards. A Hospital Corpsman Master Chief told an Admiral he WOULD NOT wear his Purple heart because it "was his own damn fault for getting shot".

I find this type of stolen valor the worst form - someone who was a former service member.

It's very upsetting. I'll never understand why, except they need attention.

Agreed. Own what you did. Nothing wrong with being a clerk. Someone had to do it.
