As Much As I'd Like To Have Traveled To Other Countries During My Enlistment,
I Just Don't Believe I Could Be Out To Sea Most Of The Time. I Think I'd Feel Lost, Never Really Knowing Where I Was, But Just Knowing Where We Were Going.~ My Brother Ian, Spent Some Time In The Merchant Marines, Working For The Texas Oil Company (Texaco); He Said One Time, "I Was Stuck For 2 Months In The Virgin Islands Due To A Paperwork Fowl Up. But After I Left The Virgin Island They Renamed Them; Now They're Just Known As "The Islands".

A1C Medrick "Rick" DeVaney 21 Years in the Navy, Served on Ships for 5 Years. Only 9 Months Underway. Just the Nature of the Beast! Now the Majority of the 5 Years assigned to Ships was in "Drydock" The Most Depressing, Horrendous Thing Known to Man! I'd Rather someone Just Shoot Me in the Head than ever go thru RCOH, Drydock Again! Now Underway is Wonderful! Ships Should always be Underway or in Foreign Ports!
