We are currently looking at a siege in Mosul whenever it finally gets cutoff and can not be resupplied. But how many have actually studied what a siege can look like when there are determined defenders and fortifications? Here is a great article on the history of one such siege - and what it took for a very tough German-Romanian force to win.
