Not if I was guilty of the crime. I think I would want it to stay home so my family would remember the hero I was, instead of the criminal I was made to be. I don't know about this colonel, but I do know my specialty isn't exactly one you would repeat in civilian life.

Was it a civil or military court? If a court martial, then I understand as that is the expectation and indeed requirement. Otherwise....seriously going to publicly disgrace the uniform too on your way down?
