PE Trump is looking at things from a businessman's point of view.

First I am glad that Lt. Gen. Christopher Bogdan, the F-35 program executive officer, struck a conciliatory tone when asked about Trump’s recent comments “billions of dollars can and will be saved” about the F-35 joint strike fighter Maj Marty Hogan. At least Lt Gen Bogdan stated Trump’s desire to root out waste and efficiency is commendable.
Unfortunately coming a long way since the program's inception in 2011 is not the standard to meet.
The Initial Operational Capability requirement including its subordinate milestones is what needs to be met. There comes a point in time where the program needs t be evaluated by cool heads to see if its should be extended until it meets the requirements or terminated losses cut.

Concur LTC Stephen F. we passed that however in 2011- and probably way before. We are dismayed at our aging weapon systems, but they are still doing the job. Could we re-outfit current airframes- or build "new old" air frames. Not everything needs to be shiny and futuristic looking. An A10 or B52 raining ordinance down on you would change the mind of anyone on the ground about them being "outdated".

And they just released new info that the $400k helmet is still blinding pilots at night and that the Pentagon was aware the entire time that there was a fire issue in the weapons bay.
