That includes no lowered standards for women. If you intend to fight with the big dogs you need to be one.

Amen! I was at Benning in '74. They were trying women out for jump school by running them in separate platoons from the men. The difference being their run was shorter but they graduated with the same badge! Man was I pissed off when I saw that!

Every new soldier has to pass this test. Standards are based on the physical demands rating for each MOS. But let's be honest... They're not that challenging

Soldiers still write letters in basic training. At least as of 2010. I couldn't imagine there has been that dramatic of a change in that amount of time.

Nothing like getting the mail call, and opening up that letter you've been waiting on for so long.

SGT Nate Nielsen - true... they still write letters... but they also make phone calls, send texts, post on Facebook, Snapchat, and all that other BS... and yes, unfortunately, even at Benning...

SGT (Join to see) - I Enlisted originally in 1963. Our Officers and NCO's were Korean War Vets, and a few WWII and Korean War. Those guys were "HELL ON WHEELS"! We were doing push-ups during P.T. and there was a little chubby guy in front of me that just couldn't get his ass off the ground, until a D.I. came up behind him and kicked him, and I mean KICKED! These guys were from the old "brown shoe Army". You screwed up once, you didn't make the same mistake again.

SSG Larry Sabin - It hadn't changed at all in 1965. If they saw someone weak or struggling, woe be on their ass. They were good demonstrations to show us what not to do. We weren't allowed to help them or we got the same punishment.

There are a lot of opinions this topic could have but my 3 are no lowering standards for anyone male or female one standard across the board, this test should be given to soldiers already infantry that have been identified as not possibly unfit to carry out the duties and responsibilities of a infantryman, and there should be a separate test for 11B and 11C I'm a 11C and I know we can a lot more weight due to the mortar system and rounds along with all the equipment plus after you have hiked up that mountain with all that can you mentally remember how to be a gunner when under pressure.
