Hey, I like this game:
-- If the article is generated by a "Media Matters" press release, it's probably a propaganda/fake news story.
--If the article is repeated in every newspaper "verbatim", it's probably a propaganda/fake news story.
-- If the body of the article refutes the headline, it's probably a propaganda/fake news story.
-- If the writers of the article are "endorsing" someone or something, it's probably a propaganda/fake news story.
-- If the article uses photographs you saw last year, it's probably a propaganda/fake news story.
-- If the article is completely based on "unnamed sources, who are in the know", it's probably a propaganda/fake news story.
-- If the author can't use spell check, it's probably a propaganda/fake news story.
-- If the article presents opinion as fact, it's probably a propaganda/fake news story.
-- If the article presents the author as a hero, it's probably a propaganda/fake news story.
Note that I said "propaganda/fake news story" and not a fake news source. Even the National Enquirer has broken some major news stories in its day and every singly mainstream media newspaper and network has had to retract stories and many have been forced to give back national awards because of stories they published which were faked.
