Merkel is becoming a windsock now that she is forced to face the error of her ways on immigration. Now she sees the light and wants to crack down on burkas. She is closing the barn doors after the horses are out.

A ban on full veil coverings isn't unreasonable, given the social stress Germany is under because of the large number of refugees they have accepted. It's time for Germany to stop accepting refugees for now as well, last year they accepted something like 900K refugees. That more than 1% of the entire population in a single year. I can't imagine all the problems that would be caused by the US accepting 1% or roughly 2.5 million refugees in a single year.

Never going to happen in Germany, as with several other UE countries, the large number of Muslim citizens and migrants won't stand for what they view as religious freedoms.

Interesting perspective. The large number of Muslims in several EU nations will prevent this (minor, narrow) proposal. Should we assume the majority public and the national government together, have lost the ability to influence the Muslim community toward any form of assimilation? Have they lost sovereignty? Is Islam too powerful for the West to counter via law?

Col Joseph Lenertz - Yes. Yes. Yes. IMO, this is a long term strategy, the new stealth Crusade. Why else would so many come here and want things exactly like they were in the "old" country. My personal conspiracy theory.
