OMG, I lost IQ points just clicking on the link. "Trumpism"? There's a concept that could only be hatched by sticking one's head up one's ass and farting John Lennon's "Imagine". Trump is not Buddha

I actually took time to read the article, and despite the wording of the title it makes quite a bit of sense.
The writer is not saying that President-Elect Trump is going to try to form a type of government that is in anyway simular to an Islamic Theocracy.
What he stated was the conditions that bought Islamic Theocracies to power and Donald Trump to Office were simular.
In both circumstances a large enough portion of the people became disillusioned with their present form of Government and sought to replace it with officials who had some grasp of the religious roots of the country. In Iran and other countries it was Islam. In the US it was Judeo-Christianity.
He also pointed out that unlike Christianity, which has been "toned down" over hundreds of years so countries can be more inclusive, Islam has not been through that process.

The author thinks Trump's victory is related to white nationalist, wow what dumba$$.
This election was between two bad choices and Trump was barely the 'better' choice by the electoral college process.
We will see if Trump and the GOP can lead, commentary like this just shows the ignorance of the author and the usually astute Economist publication.
