Col Joseph Lenertz Interesting article, thanks for sharing.
I love the final statement: "The self-defense myth of concealed carry nevertheless carries on, at the expense of public safety." As you cannot prove a negative it is interesting. It reminds me of an old joke. Seems there was an old man in a big city, who stood on the street corner day in and day out snapping his fingers. One day, someone stopped and asked him why he was snapping his fingers on the corner. The old man replied that he was keeping the elephants away. The befuddled stranger said, there aren't any elephants within a hundred miles of here. The old man winked and said... See, it's working.

Here we go again. With the proper training. Guys my CDL is valid in all fifty states and I bet that the CDL test in the fifty states is different to a degree. Most all CCW classes cover the basics. If you choose to carry you better damn sure know what you are doing. I carry a separate insurance policy to help cover my butt should I have to use my gun. I recommend it for all of you to.

Yes, my worry is the training issue as well. I've kept my CC for 10 years, but more important, I make use of the nearby Marine Corps shooting range every month to keep the muscle memory and get continuous reinforcement of safe practices.

Every smart Person who carries does that. I shoot monthly with my carry guns, (PMR-30, XD MOD 2, XD MOD 2 service model and tactical FN FNX).

OK. If I were an actuarial based company I would say that it does not even register on the coverage matrix. It accounts for 0.000003% of deaths each year. If I were a politician, I would pretty much ignore things that affected less than 1% of the country - and this does! But no! The MSMs and politicians NEED to focus on the 0.000003% and ignore the other 99.999997%! And here we are somewhat doing the same. Shame on me!
