HT2 here and although I am a former AM and fingers crossed soon to be LS I am proud of the rating I have and will hold. Hooyah CTT2!!!

I feel this is Part of the Fundamental Transformation BHO has been trying to shove up every ones Nose... from civilian Life to military and across the Board... the Break down and elimination of ot the old standards and norms ...

I'm not going to lie, the whole "rates" thing confuses me. I can see why Sailors are upset by the change but it's just a title at the end of the day.

Very true. What upsets Sailors the most is that the title has tradition. There are several ceremonies based on ratings (for example; the passing of the Boatswain Whistle to another Boatswain Mate (BM). It is a very distinct honor to be given that). Also what upsets Sailors is that the way that it was done wasn't fair and it was done on the fact of a gender-neutral Navy.
It's difficult to explain how much a rate means to a Sailor unless you are the Sailor. Someone from another branch would be the way you feel about it, confused.
When shit hits the fan, you aren't worried about which sex, color, race, religion or any other personifying issue, you are going to work together to make sure that the ship can still float and keep everyone fighting and alive. We have cohesion already through the Navy and making it more PC based just complicates things.
