I read what's been written so far. I think it's a hell of a great gesture for him. Even if it's a blip on the radar screen, imagine the hell raised if he did take it. He's our POTUS, get over it. He'll be a good POTUS.

It is a blip for him - he probably makes more than that every minute just on interest alone. But it's NOT a blip to guys like you and me, who appreciate the underlying message. That service is more important than money. A message that his detractors will ignore, of course.

TSgt Frank Shirley - Frank, you don't want to lock horns with me. I've tried to be considerate of you, and I expect you be considerate of me. I have my opinions like you do. I don't have any dislike or hate associated with my responses. I'm not going to waste my time with your statement about my definition of good.

SN Greg Wright - Someone wrote it's because of his taxes. I don't think 400K a year would make or break him. It's a smidgen of what he makes annually. To us though, it's a ton of money. I'll ask again. Would it have made the Trump haters happy if he DID take the salary? No! But I find it hard to believe they would prefer a real crooked POTUS, who would take the salary, and anything else she could get away with. All I remember her saying is raising taxes and putting people out of work. When I heard that, I didn't pay anymore attention to what she said.

He's not the first George Washington, Herbert Hoover, and John F Kennedy Jr all donated the presidential salaries to charity

SFC Wesley Arnold, Jr , Thanks. I was going to look them up. I've not heard of any President doing that. But, now I know.

A nice gesture but a totally insignificant one. The President's salary is hardly a blip in a 3.8 trillion dollar budget. I think we should give him 5% of whatever he saves (lowers the US annual budget) and he can donate it to his favorite charity if he wants

Agreed, it's a nice gesture but at the end of the day it doesn't change much. What will be far more interesting are the things he does/decides that have real significance. Still, can't knock it as a start.
