I was living in a ford escort and ran out of food. So I searched the car for something to stop the gnarly hunger pains. Then there it was a dill pickle in a pouch under the seat. I ate it and once I came to and realized I was still alive I went to the recruiter. There's a lot more to the story but I figured I would just cut to the tipping point. Lol

Jan 2011: I was working as a security officer and was really depressed. I was overweight, newlywed but didn't feel happy. I worked a dead-end job at 10/hr, up to my neck in bills. I didn't want to live like that. My husband one night said, "why not join the military?" I laughed. "seriously, think about it". So I did. I came to the conclusion that this would probably work for me, more pros than cons so I took a chance. Recruiter said I needed to lose weight. After I left the office, I made it a challenge to lose the weight and sign up. I lost 50 pounds in 2 months with diet and exercise, went back to the recruiter and he helped me get myself to MEPS where I swore in April 2011. June 2011, I was off to Great Mistakes, IL to become a sailor. Aug 2011.....I was a United States Sailor.

I was working in a construction job, drinking a lot, partying too much. When my "friends" started doing heavy drugs, I got scared and realized I needed to go a different way. I chose to join the Army. I took an ASVAB in May and went to basic in June. Best decision I ever made. Changed my life, made me see a bigger picture.
To this day, I would not change anything about it.
