More Than 100,000 People Sign Petition Asking White House To Save Navy Ratings

This is pretty sad to me. A member of the Navy shouldn't have to send a petition to the White House to save their NAVY ratings, but that's what happened. Now, it's up to the White House. I don't understand Navy ratings, but what's been done, to only recognize their rank, sounds stupid to me. I reason, it's like being Infantry, but only recognized by your rank. Sounds confusing to me.

A petition requesting restoration of the U.S. Navy’s traditional rating titles that was posted to the White House website has exceeded the 100,000 signatures required to prompt a response from the White House.

The petition was created just hours after the Navy’s top brass announced on Sept. 29 that the service would be modernizing its 200-year-old enlisted rating system. A part of that plan was immediately scrapping rating titles.
