This post makes me think of mail call and how important it was to me over the years. I guess technology has taken some of the shine off of mail call.

Bill Malden was visiting his son at Pleiku, RVN the night of February 7, 1965. His son was attached to 52nd Aviation Battalion at Camp Holloway. That night NVA commandos, falsely described as VC, launched simultaneous attacks on both Camp Holloway and the II Corp Advisory Group, located at the other side of Pleiku. Bill Maulden came away with vivid memories of what occurred in Camp Holloway during and after the attack. He described the events later, I don’t remember if he drew any cartoons, aka Willie & Joe. He was very impressed by the reactions of all the personnel he observed under attack and immediately following, drawing on his own WWII experiences.
