New a WWII vet of Aachen. 15 years old when he enlisted. Combat medic. Found his awards & decorations when he died. Bronze Star with 'V' for getting blown up by a grenade while exposing himself to fire repeatedly to recover & treat the wounded. Never talked about. Tremendous sense of humor. Loved life. He was a good man. Your family misses you Mr. Kenney

American units fought city battles in Iraq- and pretty much messed up the cities.

But even then - we did not really have to fight through the suburbs and the city... and destroy them all with arty.... and then have to fight through that mess. We came close in three battles - but a CORPs hammering one city... and supported by two more doing the movements was not that close. Ramadi and Falj were good examples of city fight - but we were fighting with BDEs -- not whole divisions.
