The 1st Cavalry Division was made up of parts of the 2nd Infantry and 111th Air Assault Divisions. They didn't appear to be all that familiar with some of the new weapons and equipment They were very heavy on personnel, we often joked that those were their photographers.
On June 30th 1965 I went to bed in Korea as a member of 1st Cav in Korea and awoke in 2nd Infantry Div. We all had one uniform with new patches and crests for the occaision

It was the 11th Air Assault Division. I was stationed at Fort Benning when the flags were changed and MG Chiles, 2nd Division CG went to Korea with his flag.
Six and a half months later, I arrived at the 43rd MASH in Uijongbu, Korea.

SSG Edward Tilton Ah youth! Where did it go? Great picture by the way. Wasn't Hal Moore in the 2nd ID prior to the First Cavalry?

I never understood why it had to be 1st Cavalry rather than 11th Air Assault, politics.
