Hemingway’s post-World War I “lost generation” produced many cultural and literary icons. Modern vets can do the same.
“You are all a lost generation.”
That is the epigraph of Ernest Hemingway’s “The Sun Also Rises,” that he heard from Gertrude Stein and that he used to memorialize an era. This generation contained some of the most prolific American writers who together changed the face of literature, but it was their shared experiences that bound them together.

there are those of us vets, myself included, that didn't even go to a 'war', not that I'm complaining here, but I served from 92-01, and therefore wasn't in Afghanistan, Iraq, too late for the first gulf war. Did not go to Serbia...I hope I'm not considered 'forgotten'
