He had a heart attack during a PT test -- and now the Army won't pay the bills

I'm still trying to wrap my head around this one. If he had passed previous APFTs, that is de facto proof of good health (military standard). Although the APFT might not have "triggered" the Heart Attack, it did happen during a drill weekend. If he had been hit by a car while running it, we'd pay for it... why is this different? Heck, I'm pretty sure if he was hit by a car during the drill weekend we'd cover it.

LTC (Join to see) - Maybe not anymore. We used to get a lot of 30 day reservists (instead of the weekend + 2 week). These guys were normally Gov Contractors so they liked to BS (a lot). I remember them telling a story about a field grade was changing his oil on Sat Evening and the car fell on him in his driveway. Apparently the LOD investigation came back "in."
Not saying everything should be covered. Far from. But heck, if it happens on base, in uniform, when they are supposed to be wearing it.... I have a real problem with why they would deny it.

Sgt Aaron Kennedy, MS - I know an LTC who has been fighting for his LOD for 3 years. Exactly the same situation.

I don't get it. The Army only pays for service-related things now? So if you're on weekend and break your leg, you're SOL? Wtf?

It's probably a Reserve Component nuance/bias. On the one hand, we keep asking more of the RCs, but on the other hand, let me show you the middle finger.
