Uriah P. Levy Statue Dedication - Mikveh Israel

Naval Officer Uriah P. Levy was the Naval Officer that spearheaded the movement to stop the flogging of sailors aboard American Ships. 1855. He saved Jeffersons Home and restored it. He commisioned a Jefferson statue in the Congress, the only private one in the Congress. He was a True American and Great Naval Officer of these United States and a Jew.
