PO3 Machinist's Mate

I have mixed feelings on this. I was a Torpedoman on submarines (even if they called us Machinist's Mates) and couldn't BUY a promotion (killed the test every time I took it, but always PNA'd) in the 5 years that I was a Third Class (AND I was prior service, so my additional time SHOULD have helped). IF doing things this way allows for people to move up the ladder, it COULD be a good thing (but there's going to be A LOT of growing pains).

However, I'm really big on tradition and this seems like a slap in the face to those who sailed before us. I know the powers that be think they have some kind of justification for this move, but none of it seems to pass the smell test to me. Change for change's sake is never a good thing.

I suppose I will have to adopt a "wait and see" philosophy about this...

PO2 Kristy Williams - Tradition then? If they changed my rate/rank as long as I get paid I am good. Too old to care.
