PO1 William "Chip" Nagel - Was on a task force down in South/Central America doing a Civil Humanitarian/ Civil Affairs mission, the operations platform was USS Kearsarge CFT 40.1. I was on the ground advance team with Civil Affairs Team conducting advance ground prep and running ground operations for the mission. We would fly out to the Kearsarge, and brief the commodore, and command staff on atmospherics, like security situation, and other Intel and logistic stuff that would help or hinder the operations. We would sometimes have to stay on Ship after brief, and I hated it ,but was staying in Chiefs berthing, green side not as bad as crew, and troops. I would not want to do a full deployment on one, would rather be able to come and go, like I did.
