I had an interesting discussion here yesterday about if the senior executives should be help accountable at Wells Fargo. This article talks about the employees who did complain about the practices to HR and the "ethics hotline" and were terminated soon after. It appears to have been retaliation and a pervasive problem and one that executive leadership did or at very least should have known about. However, these senior executives will likely walk away personally extremely wealthy partially because of the fraud perpetrated here.

I do my banking at a credit union. However, I don't think it is only Wells Fargo. We found similar types of unethical behavior in the financial institutions primarily responsible for for the 2008 recession. They walked away from seriously damaging the world economy personally very wealthy there too. This happens over and over again, there are huge incentives for doing it, and the people who profit the most and have the most ability to control if it happens are never held to account.
