Most Definitely a Mixed Bag from every different group you can Imagine. I can not confirm anything but I do know of something called "Goating" which is taking over someone elses Social Media Page and Flipping It. Usually Far Right KKK and Neo-Nazi what we are now calling Alt-Right Web Pages and thru Backchannels I would get Invites to "Goating" Parties. Celebrations of taking over their page and mocking them. The style and methodology and these Backchannel Invites makes me believe that some of these Anonymous Folks are Ex-Navy Liberal Cryptologic Technicians like myself or other Military Folks that learned their Skills in the Military and just carried over into a hobby in the Civilian World. Yes it is Cyber Warfare or as we called it in my day Electronic and Information Warfare.

Anonymous could be the NRA of hackers if they chose to. Just as Yamamoto feared that there would be a rifle behind every blade of grass if the Japanese attempted to invade America, government intelligence agencies might fear that Anonymous could be hacking from behind every computer if they attempt to weaponize the Internet.
