When I worked for a well known chemical company I thought I was next in line to be promoted to shift supervisor. A friend of mine got the promotion. I was disappointed, but I knew he wouldn't be able to handle the job. I bided my time for two or three months, and sure enough, he didn't like the job and wanted to go back to being an operator. I was offered the job and took it. I remained as a shift leader until I retired. Some people aren't cut out to lead, and some are. So, if you know you deserve the promotion, continue being a leader, and you will get promoted.
The sooner you accept your fate, the faster you and your family adjust and plan for a new future.
