The Atlantic Council is currently seeking applications from US veterans for the 2016 Take Point Fellowship. The deadline to apply is Saturday, October 1, 2016.
Take Point is a fellowship program and funding competition open to veterans of the United States Armed Forces who are thirty-five years old and younger. Launched in 2014, supported by the Bob Woodruff Foundation, and chaired by former Secretary of Defense Charles Hagel, Take Point equips veterans to pursue careers in international affairs as nonprofit and thought leaders where their front-line experiences and leadership naturally positions them to lead and thrive. Through an intensive ten-day program in Washington, DC, Take Point provides:
1. World-class executive-level skills training;
2. Off-the-record master classes with senior global leaders;
3. Professional networking and customized mentor matches;
4. Public events and speaking opportunities for fellows;
5. Participation in an executive retreat with high-profile leaders;
6. $40,000 of grant funding, awarded through a pitch competition, to support fellow projects.
The program offers two tracks - nonprofit leadership (for those working at or seeking to launch nonprofits in the veterans space) and thought leadership (intended for projects that don't necessarily take the form of nonprofit organizations such as films, books, research projects, and others).
