Tactless question but it always comes up when you talk to someone who hasn't been in some service. They ask us. They ask cops. They ask doctors if they've ever lost anyone. I always say "regardless of how I answer some will believe me and some won't, so I won't answer that question". Either they don't get it or they think it's like playing "Call of Duty" in their mom's basement.

SGM Barry Kindred I'm gonna go out on a limb and say no one's ever accused you of being verbose SGM. True statement?

Poor taste. I always tell my student to never ask that question of a Vet. We often have Veterans Organizations at school for patriotic days and assemblies.
