I actually have a Brother who runs an organization called One Veteran Foundation that will train and place service dogs for veterans diagnosed with PTSD, for free.
It's local to Tucson and the surrounding Southern Arizona area, but please let your network know! He has a Facebook page and his name is Dave Rafus, Marine Corps veteran. He saw what he himself (he as a service dog of his own) and other vets had to go through to get a service dog, so he did something to make the process easier and more affordable for the veterans.

I have had horses and dogs since before I enlisted. None of them are official service animals, but that doesn't mean they don't help with the bad days. I would go nuts particularly if I didn't have my horses around.

We've provided Certified Therapy Dog work to hospitals, rest homes, and some Vet organizations. Beckham has done his best work in physical rehab and neuropsych. Patients do twice as much with him on the other end. He also gets people to come out of their shell. Becks is 9 now and is just beginning to lose a step. Since we've moved out to Idaho, he's been on call for Victim Services at the courthouse.
