When that prosecutor slapped those blanket charges on all tge officers I knew they weren't going to stick. She was overzealous and incompetent.

Think the prosecutors really messed this one up by going for extreme charges. It is hard not to believe that some type of misconduct or violation of procedures occurred, but the prosecutors went for blood. Should have gone for the obvious lesser charges and in my opinion many of the officers involved would have received punishment, reprimands, etc. This would have sent right signals to the City as well as a wakeup call to the police. Now police think they've been vindicated for their actions and behavior like this will continue.

Exactly. She charged to make a political statement that blew up in her face and should cost her the job. She stinks as a DA

1LT Susan Bailey I think the case was mishandled and needed to be investigated more thoroughly. Everyone rushed to judgment and pushed to make something happen too quickly and steps were missed and the investigations were hurried in my opinion. If the Police Officers were wrong, then they should be hedl accountable - period! Why are we rushing justice, when we need to make sure that all the T's are cross and I's are dotted?

I totally agree. Having been in MD at the time of the incident and subsequent riots it seemed pretty clear to me that there was a rush to judgement. I'm not sure if it was clear on a national level, but if I recall correctly the mayor did not take action as swiftly as she probably should have to quell the riots. In fact, I think she even made a comment as unrest began that authorities should "just let them get it out of their system" which is why things got so out of control so quickly. So by the time she requested state and federal assistance to quell the unrest, political action was needed by then to address "holding people accountable" for the injuries Freddie Gray sustained.
The tragedy of that is many black owned businesses were destroyed as a result. One of the biggest tragedies was a building that took 7 years of fundraising to build for homeless and elderly people was torched and destroyed just before it could open.
The incompetence of leadership before, during, and after this is just staggering!
