Great! Just what I needed. Another excuse. I'm old. I've had a stroke. I spend too much time on the Internet. It's never a good idea to keep repeating the same excuse, is it?

Dear Cpt Durish:
I'd shown my wife what you'd said, and of course very deeply regret any unfortunate misinterpretations of my efforts at humor, which, I can only seek to reassure you, as I've been seeking to do on the site here since all the answers I'd gotten, were, by all means, well intentioned, though I now very and quite clearly understand that this is obv not the proper place for such efforts, by all means. As another on here mentioned to me, this is obv a very serious professional website of the highest order, and, while my efforts were, by all means, purely intended to leaven the mood of those on here in light of that latest video game fad mentioned on here of late, I can now quite clearly perceive that such efforts on my part, were obv misplaced, most certainly. Please understand, my wife and I obv have the very highest regard for all on here, and, also, for the very gracious way all of you have very kindly allowed me to be part of your discussion. World on here. We were obv also very deeply sorry to hear of your recent unfortunate illness, as well, and, also, your remarks were entirely correct, which I certainly realized was the case, on more suitable reflection. I can clearly in w perceive that this is obv not the forum for such efforts at humor in my part, and you of course have my very real assurance that I entirely understand, and will obv do my level best henceforward to keep my answers and or submissions as serious as humanly possible, by all means. Having been ill ourselves of late, both my wife, as well as myself, entirely realize the relaxing aspect of spending time charting online, by all means, and your thoughts in that regard were also, likewise, entirely correct. Pls do know that I take the vews of all of you on here, and most especially combat vets like yourself, I believe, at least fro what I've gathered, most seriously, and have the singularly highest regard for all of you, as I merely view myself as a "wannabe", if you will, and am very acutely aware that, while I was in noncombat, I thus was never called on to do anything even vaguely of the order of what you and so very many others on here accomplished or sacrificed to achieve, by all means. Once again, therefore, please do be assured of our very good wishes for your speedy recovery, and please do also be assured that I myself have very greatly taken to heart virtually every word you'd said, and will obv I assure you in future comport myself accordingly. Some sites, I'd imagine, are the place for such efforts at humor, I can now entirely perceive that this is, most definitely, not one of those, and that my thoughts, wiphile, as I'd said, intended to cheer others up, were, of course, not suitable for this context, I've very clearly gathered and been told. Once again, out very best wishes for your speedy recovery, most certainly, and my very real assurances that I most very definitely entirely understand, by all means, many very real thanks for explaining my unfortunate misconception as eloquently as you did, it was a very real and genuine help, and made me stop and rethhink, as did the numerous other similar thoughts to yours that I'd similarly received.

Makes sense to me! It's like my GPS makes me not pay attention and I've been places I couldn't get back to without my Garmin or iPhone

SPC Jeff Payne, I know the feeling. When my computer's battery runs down I lose my education.

That is very interesting. It reminded me of an isolated primitive jungle tribes studied by anthropologists back in the '60s (at least that is when I read the studies).
It seems that these primitive tribes had long standing animosity with one another, and when they met in the jungle they would sit down and compare their lineages going back many generations. If they found a link they would pass as friends; but if they could not find a common ancestor they were obliged to fight to the death.
Both tribes had photographic memories of the most minute details of their daily lives, and their history was passed down father to son for many generations. But when the anthropologists flew one member to civilization to study their culture he quickly lost his photographic memory and became more like we are in that regard.
The study put down that memory loss to sensory overload.
It seems like the same thing is going on here.
