One of my favorite childhood movies but I was disappointed to read that Dick Van Dyke hated it! He referred to it as a cheap attempt to re-do Mary Poppins (or something to that effect) in his biography My Lucky Life In and out of Show Business.

SGT (Join to see) - I think he was referring to the plot's format, rather than the flying effects.

SGT (Join to see) - He, My Van Dyke, took issue with the story as just a stab at a Mary Poppin's rip off.

Impossible for him to feel that way - he was pickled for most of the filming. In Julie Andrews bio, they (studio) came close to firing him several times. He was a raging alcoholic.

I loved the flying car, it would have really rocked with a mini gun...that shows that Baron that hated children

Chitty, Chitty, Bang, Bang car reminds me a little of Son of Flubber.

LTC (Join to see) - "Yes, they'd dare," until they realize they just put a new front on the building. . . .
