I would think that the eastern parts of Europe need to plan on taking Russian language courses since western Europe isn't willing to back up the Ukraine and Georgia with some economic sanctions when the Russians make land grabs.
If Europe cut Russia off economically, Putin would be on the corner selling number two pencils with a cigar box for cash. His supporters would abandon his imperialist Russian dreams in a heart beat if it seriously cut into their bottom line.
Don't think much of either candidate for the 2016 election, but Putin can't be happy, since both are decidedly more hawkish than President Obama.

I was pissed ever since NATO closed JHNE in Denmark (lost my apo), now that's off my chest.
NATO has been struggling for a purpose ever since the Warsaw alliance broke up. With Russia again flexing their muscles, they need to keep focused. The U.S. doesn't need to be the major player and the European countries need to step up a bit, but all the countries are going through money problems now, cut backs so it will be interesting to see how things play out.
