House returns to resume a bitter fight over gun control

The fate of the legislation — which would create a process to prevent people on no-fly lists from buying guns — seems certain: It is going nowhere. A similar measure has already been defeated in the Senate.
What is uncertain is whether Democrats will again try to shut down the House to demand votes on other gun control proposals.
House Democrats led by civil rights icon Rep. John Lewis, D-Ga., staged a sit-in on the House floor June 22, saying they would not leave until Republicans scheduled a vote on gun control legislation. After a nearly 12-hour standoff, Speaker Paul Ryan, R-Wis., simply reconvened the House and called a vote on unrelated matters over the shouts of the Democratic protesters. Republicans ultimately voted to adjourn for the July Fourth holiday, and Democrats remained in the chamber for several hours to continue their appeal for a gun vote.

It seems to me that there are a lot more pressing issues that Congress SHOULD be concerned with.

They want to continue the fighting, and to appeal to their bases... Dems are under a lot of pressure to something and Repubs are under a lot of pressure to do nothing ..So with so many pressure you could see some explosive discussions as you know.

The biggest issue of all of this is that the no-fly list is not maintained or created with any proof or foundation of guilt. There are bad people on that list, but they are on a no fly list, not arrested and convicted. What happened to innocent until proven guilty? Also, flying is a privilege that can be taken away, the second amendment is a right that cannot.

I may need the opinions of some of our RP lawyers. How can a person be banned from a legal activity, without due process. I admittedly am using the "argument of ridiculousness" to make my point.
What is the legal basis for telling a US citizen that he is enjoined from a legal activity. How can the government say "You John Doe may no longer participate in the legal activity of being a passenger on a plane."
If someone hits a public speaker in the face with a pie, can we then stop them from purchasing any pastry related deserts? Is there no due process?

I hate to say it but we need to start racial profiling in this country. I know it sounds bigoted and racist but if they were 56yr old Norwegians wearing bomb vests or shooting up a mall or birthday party in this country and I had to submit to a search because I fit the profile when I traveled or when I was seen walking down a street I would submit for the safety of us all. We need to quit being so politically correct and tell these individuals that fit a specific profile that you are being detained or searched for the good and safety of us all so get over it!
