I have been a HUGE fan of rowing machines for a little over a year now. Besides working your entire body, just changing your grip from over-hand to under-hand can target different portions of muscles. I currently row 5K at about 21 min. Try it lightly at first to get used to it. You can also incorporate 500m sprints into your "round robin" workout for you and/or other soldiers.

Me neither. I'm hoping it will be a good shocker for my lats. My back doesn't live bent over barbell rows much.
