Well, I know what steps I take. My harddrive is encrypted, my camera is taped over (not disabled because I do still use it) I have a pretty decent router with Kaspersky built into it along with a decent firewall that is as effective as I can manage it to be. I know I cannot have a reasonable expectation of privacy because I do expect people to try and get into my computer. Not to attack me directly, but you know how information steeling viruses are, attack as many computers as possible and hope some have lax security or inattentive users.

SGT (Join to see) - it's a great Antivirus software; however, the founder of the company is an Ex-KGI agent. There's no proof that it collects any information but it has been proven that Kaspersky posts information to a Russian server. But no one is really sure what information it's sending.
Panda is a Chinese Antivirus.

Maj (Join to see) - aah, I did know that it sent info to company servers, and I did know those servers were russian. I also knew that the company was founded by a former LGBT guy. However I respect other third party servers no more than I do kaspersky, so what it boils down to is base effectiveness. And at that, at least, the big red K excells. The rest is just up to my personal choices as to what personal information goes where

SGT (Join to see) - "Former LGBT guy" lol.
But yes your right we don't know what anyone does with our data. And Kaspersky does excell in the world of security. I personally don't like the idea of an ex KGB agent having my data.

That's not precisely what the judge said. He said something to the effect of "If you're connected to the Internet you should have no reasonable expectation of privacy."

"If your house is on a public street, you should have no reasonable expectation of privacy because home security is ineffectual at stopping thieves."

All I was doing was paraphrasing what the judge said. Nowhere in my comment did I endorse the ruling.

"If your house is on a public street, you should have no reasonable expectation of privacy because home security is ineffectual at stopping thieves." - The logic is the same.
