IRAQ Obama Claims 'We Broke' ISIL Siege On Trapped Yazidi Refugees On Mount Sinjar 14Aug214

Last week I heard a story on NPR of a Yazidi girl telling her story of how she escaped from being an ISIS commander's sex slave. She and hundreds others were taken as slaves, the men were slaughtered. This is how the siege of Mt. Sinjar ended.

But, I thought I saw President Obama give a speech of how we saved the Yazidis. Was this a different siege on Mt. Sinjar by ISIS? No. It turns out that we dropped some supplies and flew a few dozen to safety. Then realized that ISIS was not the JV team that we thought. That they were a force to be reckoned with and our "team of advisors" was no match. So we abandoned thousands of "kafir" to be brutally killed or taken as sex slaves. Over 5,000 Yazidi girls were sold into the sex slave business. Including, the girl who is telling her story of how she was captured when she was only 15.

So how did I think they were saved? Why didn't I know thousands were killed and enslaved? Why was there no #saveourgirls? US media's deference to President Obama's legacy? He told us they were going to be alright. Who knows.

What I do know is this: When the US goes to war, we don't make more enemies by killing our enemies. We make more enemies by abandoning our friends, or at least people who were amicably indifferent. There were people all around the globe who had ties to those victims on the mountain. They saw the mighty US military and president claim to rescue the Yazidis. But the truth is that we turned our backs, then pretended that it never happened. That is the stuff that makes more enemies.
