The 'Empire Chaplain': This Army clergyman quit over the US drone program

As a young Lt talking with our Battalion Chaplain and a battery commander over a tray nasty in the forward most FOB at the time toward Marjah, Helmand, AFG I remarked that there was some irony in trying to be noble as a legionnaire on the edge of the Empire. But that at the time I thought maybe by engaging the barbarians on their turf I could keep them from coming to mine. My thinking changed some on the second deployment, but that's a story for another day.
