Political correctness is like a weed. Pluck one here and another pops up there. When you let the weeds take over your lawn (as we have allowed PC to take root in America) you'll find it very hard to clean it up. It will take a lot of blood, sweat, and tears

I agree that taking a down a memorial because it features a cross shaped headstone is in poor taste. I think it is humorous that the council was voted out of office because of it. I think it is scary when people start espousing their religion first when it comes to governing. I don't give two rats fucking in a wool sock what your religious views are. If you want to take a stand against political correctness by all means do it. If you want to throw your religion around go back on the porch where you belong. You can stand up for what is right without bringing faith into it. The Atheists were wrong to demand that the memorial be taken down. It was not a memorial to christianity, it was a veteran memorial. If the atheists are butthurt that it shows a headstone shaped like a cross, fuck off nobody cares. If the majority wants to vote out the candy ass city council that voted to cave to pressure, then stand on the moral ground that a veteran memorial is not about faith it is about respect. Leave religion where it belongs, outside of the public light.

Disagree. The cross-shaped headstone makes it a Christian veterans memorial. Why does it need to be a Christian memorial when a headstone-shaped headstone would have been more recognizable as a grave, non-sectarian and all-inclusive.
Whoever created the memorial knew exactly what they were doing, and they are to blame for it.
This is not a Christian country and our military is not a Christian force. I certainly find it offensive, and I doubt that I'm the only one.

I do NOT find it offensive, but I still agree with LTC (Join to see) .
Was the memorial for christian soldiers or all soldiers? If it's for all soldiers, wouldn't a more generic display be appropriate? I really do not care personally, but if there is those who do.. then I must support my brothers and sisters in that context.

Good for the citizens. Politicians need to remember they are elected to represent their constituents. They are not elected to act contrary to what the public wants.
