If you are concerned about your Social Media presence I would recommend something like "Klout". It is a place you can manage your social media accounts, and you are given a score based on how much social media presence you have.

What companies look at your social profile? What is the name of the job whose description is mainly to view the Facebook, Twitter (and other social media outlets) accounts of candidates and employees? By approximate percentage, is it more the direct supervisor, the human resources department, or more often the casual observation of peers that don't share your views and just happen to view your posts that get people in trouble (fired, not hired, or other?)

Alejandro,
I attend many conferences throughout the country and one of the main subjects that arise is; finding the right employee. I often speak to groups about their social image and being part of the construction and real estate industry, I can attest, it is the majority of small business who hire the majority of people in our country. I have personally looked over hundreds of resumes and those who sparked my interest, I did research on the web, (social sites), before calling them in. What I found on their social sites caused me to file many of those resumes in the circular file. Keep in mind, small business people talk to one another at networking events and we share information about potential employees. We have a great need for quality people in every industry and it is the owners and HR decision makers who do the hiring, for small business, is whose opinion really counts, not what many think of themselves. You bring in very valuable points of interest, lets see what other readers have to say. Thank you for your comment!

Good points. I'm glad I've locked down and cleaned up my personal Facebook. I've still yet to improve my LinkedIn account. I fixed my blog's "About Me" page just yesterday. I'm getting there. Thanks for the video.
