With population growth and an all volunteer force in the US many people no longer have personal experience with the high price of war and conflict anymore. I respect the thought process when fighting terrorists that we must continue with our lives with minimal disruption. That being said though it is also a strike to the heart of the families who have lost a loved one in the war or attack.
Up until VN people only saw the edited newsclips when you went to the movies. VN was when we began to see the effects of war with minimal editing and it actually turned the people against the service members. Now, people see the videos and pictures and they seem unfazed. When someone tells a personal story people respond with "I saw that on TV". I hope that at some point we can begin to see the travesties of war with an unbiased and empathic eye. And with compassion for those who had to fight them.

You live by Total War and will die by Total War, it tends to set the stage for total annihilation of countries.
