I've been trying to let those on the site here about an extremely highly qualified group of principally VA qualified attorneys called the Natl org of vet advocates or NOVA on https://vetadvocates.org that helped!both of my wife and myself about our VA claim for me. I don't deny that vet groups are all quite qualified as well as free however the NOVA mbrs all scrupulously adhere to the law governing how they actually get paid on contingency fee and were well worth our using one of their mbrs when our claim for me quite simply became way too complex for one of the major vet groups to handle despite their very real abilities. The vet group we used only had attorneys involved in DC while we were in my, and only to handle appeals to the BVA, CAVC, and the federal courts above the CAVC. The NOVA mbrs often as did ours freq volunteer with local law school vet law clinics supervised by atty law school faculty another freq overlooked possibility for VA claim help. Some claims just so positively horrendous as ours for me did that we eventually realized why using an atty was both necessary as well as preferable, also how to use atty help properly, as attys are not there to be at the literal beck and call of a client, the client is often expected to still do a good deal of legwork filling out forms and writing up letters describing claim circumstances, which attys simply often cannot know every conceivable detail and or aspect regarding, honestly. Also VA claims freq take as is well known half a decade to a decade or more, as happened with ours for me, so to expect otherwise is simply unrealistic, trust me on that. What attys are useful for also is in navigating large bureaucratic machines with many moving parts and bureaucratic many headed hydras of which the VA and svcs are perhaps among the world's largest obviously. I'm not saying attys are for everyone they may not be for a given claimant though as Lincoln said I think esntly is that only a fool has themselves for a client I believe or words to that effect. Those are my thoughts for whatever they're worth hope they were useful would be most eager to know any thoughts and or feedback many thanks.

I agree it is bad, however a better fix would be to review each case, on a case by case basis!! I know people in Leavenworth and out of Leavenworth who have committed murder, child molestation and rape and there is NO WAY these individuals deserve VA Benefits. Unfortunately, SOME veterans lie about their discharge circumstances and there needs to be a faster way to get those QUALIFIED veterans their just due, but also weed out those who should never have veterans benefits!!!

Unacceptable! This needs to be fixed.
