I suppose that if you can't make a safer gun owner then you just have to make an idiot-proof gun.
The only problem with that is that the Universe has a MUCH larger supply of "idiots" than it has of "idiot-proofs".

We don't need smarter guns. We need smarter people. Until they solve that problem, I'd rather have a dumb gun.

I don't like the idea at all. Electronics all fail at some point, and usually before the mechanics in a firearm do. Batteries need to get changed. Conditions outside the lab mean it may not work when it did while being tested in the lab. And let's not forget our ever-faithful friend: Murphy (the Murphy Laws). All in all I wouldn't even consider this unless it came with a mechanical override.
